About Whelehan Painting

My father Chuck Whelehan started our business in 1977. I began working for him at the age of 14, on my summer vacations and fulltime at 17, right out of high school. I worked for him for 8 years, becoming partners with him from the age of 26-34. After he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, my father worked for me for 2 more years before having to retire. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2019, but I’ll always cherish the bond we had that most kids don’t get to have with a parent. He taught me so much about how to run a business—And I’m now teaching my 17 year old son the same, as he just started working for me this past summer and has taken a strong desire to take over for me when I’m done.

I take a lot of pride in my communication, scheduling, in our crew and the quality of work we are all capable of doing. I’ve grown the business from just me and my father to what we are today, and with the help of my partner and former employee Jeff, we’ve established what I see as one of the top commercial and residential painting companies in Rochester, NY covering all areas from Canandaigua to Albion, (and sometimes further if needed!) We have built a great reputation in the Rochester area and take so much pride in our 5-star ratings on our Google page, Angie’s list and Facebook, with 259 combined reviews as of December 2022! I hear so much positive feedback from our customers on how great our communication is and how glad they were they found us— It truly never gets old! I always try my best to get back to every contact, whether we are able to help them or not, (I’m not perfect with this, as in the summer months the incoming calls and inquiries are very difficult to keep up with, but I really do try my best.) We always offer free estimates, accept credit cards and never ask for a deposit. We settle up when our work is done AND the customer is satisfied!
